Mohamed bin Zayed visits Jordan on official visit

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, arrived in Amman on a visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and was received by King Abdullah II of Jordan. Upon his arrival, King Abdullah II welcomed His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and his delegation at Marka International Airport. The King of Jordan expressed his pleasure at the visit that mirrors the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples, especially as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the kingdom's independence and its first centennial. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah II then inspected the Guard of Honor. The national anthems of the two countries were also played during the welcome ceremony.

The delegation accompanying H.H. Sheikh Mohamed included H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council; Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States; Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, and Ahmed Ali Mohammed Al Balushi, the UAE Ambassador to Jordan. Sheikh Mohamed and his delegation were received by Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah; Dr. Bishr Al Khasawneh, Prime Minister of Jordan; Major General Ahmad Husni, Director of Jordan's General Intelligence Department and several senior Jordanian officials.

The two discussed the strong relations between the two countries and enhancing strategic cooperation and joint coordination in the best interest of the two sides. This came when King Abdullah II received His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed today in Amman. The King of Jordan welcomed His Highness Sheikh Mohamed in his second country and expressed his confidence that the visit would boost the fraternal ties and joint work between the two countries in all fields.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to King Abdullah II and his wishes of good health and happiness as well as prosperity and development for Jordan. Sheikh Mohamed also congratulated King Abdullah II on the occasion of Jordan's 75th Independence Day and wished more progress, development and prosperity for Jordan under his wise leadership.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and King Abdullah II highlighted the importance of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. They also stressed the importance of regional and international action in the coming period to advancing the peace process, to reach a stable and sustainable settlement to the Palestinian issue that will meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people and achieve stability and development in the region.
 
They then exchanged views on several regional and global issues of mutual concern and discussed the developments taking place in the Middle East. During their meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his appreciation for Jordan's efforts, in collaboration with Egypt, to calm the situation between Gaza and Israel, highlighting the key role of King Abdullah II in caring for the sacred sites in Jerusalem. The UAE supports any step in this direction, under the framework of its approach to supporting peace and coexistence and its belief that peace will guarantee a better future for the region, he added.
 
King Abdullah II extended his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, wishing him health and happiness, and further progress and prosperity to the UAE and its people. He also stressed the importance of capitalizing on the ceasefire agreement and the global interest in the Palestinian cause to enhance the political efforts to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace settlement based on the two-state solution.
 
He then stressed Jordan’s unwavering commitment to protect sacred Islamic and Christian sites in Jerusalem, and the importance of maintaining the historic and legal status of Jerusalem and its sacred sites. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and King Abdullah II highlighted the existing close relations between the UAE and Jordan, and affirmed their keenness to enhance them in all areas. 
 
The two countries will continue their coordination on various areas of mutual concern, they added. King Abdullah II hosted a luncheon in honor of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed and his delegation. Among those who attended the discussions and the luncheon from the UAE side were H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council; Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States; Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, and Ahmed Ali Mohammed Al Balushi, the UAE Ambassador to Jordan.

From the Jordanian side, attendees included Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah; Dr. Bishr Al Khasawneh, Prime Minister of Jordan; Major General Ahmad Husni, Director of Jordan's General Intelligence Department and several senior Jordanian officials. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed left Jordan and was seen off by King Abdullah II and Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, and a number of officials.
